Two-piece, grunge infused blues rock band The Graveltones blasted their 50s style, but distorted music backed with heavy but intricate jazz drum beats to the ears of The Craufurd Arms crowd last Friday 2nd October.

Jimmy was the attentive front man on guitar and vocals, connecting with the crowd when the moment was right, suggesting they come forward to the front to watch the show “Like they’d paid to!”. Vocals run along nicely with the guitar riffs, throughout the set, songs were filled with energy, bearing moments of suspense and musical diversity, keeping the audience captivated.

Drum geeks were front row, watching Mikey Sorbello with his mind-blowing rhythm and effortless jazz techniques, with his lazy but hard hitting style and subtle but unique drum solos. Kudos to these guys, they never seem to miss a note or a beat and they both play the songs like they mean it, they really set an atmosphere.

I have seen these guys play here before, and it’s obvious from the musicianship they have that they’re doing things right, from what I have seen. If you like high-energy, hearty blues rock with a Black Keys touch, do yourself a favour…
