REXORIA return with their fourth studio album ‘Fallen Dimension’, released via Black Lodge / Sound Pollution, marking the band’s darkest and most fully realised statement to date. Following the uplifting grandeur of ‘Imperial Dawn’, the Swedish “Royal Metal” outfit push further into heavier, more cinematic territory here, delivering an album that feels colder, more intense, and emotionally weightier without sacrificing the soaring choruses and melodic power that define their sound.
REXORIA formed in Småland in 2016 and have steadily carved out an incomparable identity. Blending heavy metal, power metal, symphonic arrangements and cinematic electronics into something that feels timeless. The band name REXORIA means “King Golden”, Rex and Oria meaning the respective words, thus, marking the birth of “Royal Metal”.
In the lead-up to the albums release, the band released two singles, ‘Heart of Sorrow’ and ‘Break The Wave’, that gave fans a glimpse of the darker direction that this album goes. They highlight the sharper production, heavier instrumentation, and heightened emotional intensity that runs throughout ‘Fallen Dimension’ with the production work of Jonas Kjellgren (Sabaton, Dynazty, Bloodbound).
Opening with an unsettling cinematic introduction, the album immediately establishes a darker atmosphere before erupting into towering guitars, thunderous drums and Frida Ohlin’s commanding vocal performance. The contrast between suspenseful tension and explosive instrumentation gives the opening track a genuinely intimidating feel, showcasing a heavier edge compared to the triumphant and uplifting energy that characterised much of ‘Imperial Dawn’. It is a statement of intent from the outset: REXORIA are not interested in repeating themselves.
As the album develops, the band balance grandeur and aggression with impressive consistency. Massive choruses remain central to the bands identity, but now within heavier riffs, darker themes and a strong emotional intensity. The album focuses from societal criticism and war-driven narratives to uplifting, hook-driven power ballads. Telling tales of how ordinary people rose up from below and pushed back against higher powers from the 17th century to present day.
Frida Ohlin’s vocals are one of the standout elements, soaring above the galloping drums and guitars like battle cry’s and giving the feeling of invincibility to face your foes. The guitar solos conveying hope and encouraging willpower. The two exclusive duets are also major elements, featuring Mike Andersson of Tungsten, and Johnny Gioeli of Axel Rudi Pell / Hardline. Mike Andersson features on a powerful heavy metal song, adding depth and emotional weight to a song written in a time of war. Whilst with Johnny Gioeli, he brings raw and honest emotion to a powerful, heartfelt rock ballad.
At its core, ‘Fallen Dimension’ feels like the sound of a band fully stepping into their identity. Heavier, darker and more emotionally charged than its predecessor, the album showcases REXORIA at their most confident and ambitious. Across eleven tracks of towering melodies, cinematic tension and explosive musicianship, the band continue to prove why “Royal Metal” is more than just a tagline, it is a sound they are steadily making their own.
