Having only formed back in 2012, English garage duo Gorgon City stormed into the limelight, scoring various chart hits. Partnering with a legion of different artists along the way, their career has today brought them on a nationwide tour of the U.K, visiting cities such as London, Newcastle, Manchester and Norwich, which is where we were lucky enough to catch their show.
Gorgon City had the crowd enthralled from the very beginning, as the two vocalists fronting the duo’s set entered the stage. The crowd had gathered in the very centre of the venue to be in and amongst what was to become an electric atmosphere. Those at the back pushed forwards, towards the compact crowd in the centre, attempting to get a glimpse of the group on stage. Many of those with drinks in hand started the night as they meant to go on; drinking, jumping, dancing and singing. An atmosphere that only became more club-like as the night pressed on.
Gorgon City did not disappoint the enthusiastic crowd, as they played through some of their most popular, charted hits. ‘All Four Walls’, ‘Go All Night’, ‘Unmissable’ and ‘Ready For Your Love’ were amongst these, spread between their set, gaining the loudest and most substantial crowd reactions. These being the songs that brought the crowd together as one, with those in the centre jumping and dancing amongst both friends and strangers, enjoying the music and atmosphere collectively.
One of the most memorable parts of the evening was during ‘Go All Night’, where the group on stage and the crowd in the centre joined together for the chorus drop. The crowd from the front, all the way to the back ducked down to the floor and as the chorus dropped rose into the air in unison. It was then that the atmosphere in the venue peaked. Everybody was having a good time.
This gig was everything and more you would expect from Gorgon City. Great vocals, great atmosphere and a great crowd. I would thoroughly recommend seeing Gorgon City live, but be prepared for a wild, energetic night. For the duo themselves I only see bigger and better hits to come, collaborations with more exciting artists and a big future on the music scene.
